How do I get my colleagues involved?

Internal digital platforms cannot have an impact if they are not used. However, usage is not a given. Another system, it’s already so busy… there is always a reason not to participate.

Or: after an enthusiastic launch, internal communities spring up like mushrooms. A group for the Purchasing department, a separate group for every location, all cycling enthusiasts together, a community for sharing joys and sorrows… after a while, only the die-hards remain. And working more efficiently, sharing knowledge, and collaborating smarter seem further away than ever. Activation, yes, but no adoption.

Sustainable integration of a social intranet or digital workplace begins with embedding it in processes and daily work. Unfortunately, a manual or ‘button training’ with functional explanations is not enough for behavioral change.

Adoption strategy

How do you create impact with an internal platform? Who do you need for this and how do you get them active?

Governance and management

Who is responsible for what?

Establish clear agreements regarding the technical, functional, and content management of the internal platform and formally document this in work agreements and job descriptions.

In a workshop with all stakeholders, we will work together to develop the governance and management structure of the internal digital platform into a clear organizational chart.

Community management

How do you know for sure that activity on the platform contributes to the organization?

A community manager ensures that colleagues and external stakeholders actually use the platform in a way that contributes to the organization's goals by initiating, guiding, and managing conversations.

A temporary community manager or an (in-company) community management training? We have all the expertise in-house.

Proven methodology with scientific substantiation

Adoption is about behavioral change. Breaking down silos, sharing knowledge, a new way of working (together): apparently, this is not happening now, or not sufficiently. A social platform alone will not bring about that change.

Based on insights from behavioral psychology combined with our own research in collaboration with the University of Twente and Involve, and our practical experience, we have developed a – by now – proven methodology for the adoption of internal digital platforms.
