Evolve investigates intranet adoption in healthcare among non-desk employees

Good news: Evolve and the VU Amsterdam will conduct research on adoption in healthcare: what are the promoting and hindering factors in the adoption process of a (new) intranet?

From the VU, Floris Zeeman will conduct this research on the adoption of intranets by non-desk healthcare workers. It is a topic that is close to our hearts and that we at Evolve literally want to know everything about. In this welcome interview you will also find a call, because Floris needs respondents for his research who are working in healthcare! Are you working in healthcare as a non-desk employee and do you want to participate? Then leave your contact details here.

Let me introduce you. Who is Floris Zeeman and how did you come to us?
‘Hi! I am Floris, I am 25 years old and I am completing the Master’s programme in policy, communication and organisation at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In november, an alumni market took place there where I met Annemei and Julia from Evolve. They told me about their work and a week later I had a very nice conversation with Peter Haan about the connecting role of intranets.”

What do you study and where is your area of interest?
“So I’m studying BCO at the VU, where the courses Organizational Change and development and Communication and identity attract my attention the most. My interest in organizational change and Social Psychology arose during these courses and I would like to continue with that.’

What will your research look like, what exactly will you research?
‘My research at Evolve is focused on the adoption of intranets by non-desk caregivers: what are promoting and hindering factors in the adoption process of soa (new) system? In addition, I would like to find out whether there is a difference between caregivers in different branches of care: is the adoption by hospital employees perhaps different from how this happens for disabled caregivers or parental caregivers?’

What is your background( previous work experience) and where would you like to be in 5 years as a professional?
My background is in social the aspect of IT. I have completed my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and I have worked for an IT company that deals with event software and visitor registration in recent years. There I help companies in the run-up to events with the use of invitation software and during the events with the implementation of the hardware. I see Evolve as the perfect bridge between my IT background and my master’s: the social function of intranets connects it with communication, social psychology and change. In the coming years, I hope to learn more about the social function of IT and develop enough expertise to help organizations connect their employees digitally.“

Then last… Very cliché but you probably have a very nice answer: What do you like to do in your free time?
No pressure, I understand…. 🙂 My biggest hobby and my child is my own clothing company that I founded together with a good friend. Designing a shirt or sweater together is the best way to clear my head after a long week.’
